Hi! Today, I wanted to talk to you about an important tool

that we just put in place to help keep Canadians safe —

Red Flag Laws.

Basically, if you believe someone who has access to a firearm is a danger to themselves or to others,

you can now apply for an emergency order; and one that doesn’t even need a lawyer.

In this way, you can ask a court to remove the firearm from a dangerous person or a dangerous situation.

We’re now launching a new awareness initiative and a new call for proposals to identify organizations that can help us get the word out to everyone across the country.

If you’re worried about yourself, or a loved one, a neighbour, anyone,

these new laws give you another way to take action.

And resources were just published online to help and support you through the process.

Don’t forget; always call 9-1-1 in an emergency.
