Today is National Day Against Gun Violence

It is a day to reflect on gun violence and its impact on victims and their families.

Every year, in Canada, about 300 people are killed by firearms.

The Government of Canada is taking action to protect Canadian communities from gun violence

New regulations ensure that anyone convicted of an offence involving violence against an intimate partner will be refused a firearms licence.

"Red flag" laws are in place so anyone can ask to remove firearms from people who pose a safety risk to themselves or others.

Over 2,500 models of assault-style firearms have been banned in Canada.

Through our Buyback Program, more than 12,000 firearms have been claimed for compensation by businesses.

Together, we stand against gun violence.
