Purpose and objectives of transfer payment program

The goal of this project is to enable Avalanche Canada to expand services nationally to further ensure that more Canadians are better informed of the risks that avalanches pose, and how to be safe when participating in activities in back-country areas.

Summary of recipient’s annual plans

Avalanche Canada expects to continue stabilizing its workforce and continuing development of avalanche related decision support and information sharing tools, including the Avalanche Information Distribution system; the operational snowpack modelling program; expanded forecasting in regions of Québec; and, implementation of the Mountain Weather Forecast in Eastern Canada.
