Online Dangers Roadshow

Cyberbullying and online child sexual exploitation (OCSE) are serious problems affecting young people every day. Public Safety Canada has created an in-person experience to help raise awareness about these online dangers. The roadshow aims to help youth better empathize with someone who is experiencing cyberbullying and/or OCSE, highlight potential warning signs, and provide the resources they need to stay safer online.

What students will experience

  • Overshared – a touchscreen game that shows what can happen when private pictures are shared, and how to have them removed
  • Centre of attention – an immersive experience that allows students to visualize the impacts of cyberbullying from someone else’s perspective
  • Blurred messages – an interactive digital simulation of an online conversation with a predator to learn about capping

What they’ll learn

  • Definitions of cyberbullying, sexting, sextortion, online grooming and capping
  • How to spot the signs of cyberbullying and OCSE
  • Commonly used tactics of offenders
  • Potential impacts of cyberbullying and OCSE
  • Where they can get help and report an incident
  • How they can safely support someone they know experiencing cyberbullying or OCSE
  • Where to find additional resources
